In February of 2009, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which expands tax credits for homeowners who purchase certain energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment. These tax credits, totaling up to $1,500, were available on qualifying equipment purchased and installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.
