Our Story
Fitch Services was founded by John Fitch — a licensed Master HVAC Technician, Master Plumber, Master Electrician, and Master Gas Fitter. That combination of credentials in a single person is genuinely rare in the trades, and it wasn’t accidental. John came to the business with an engineering background and years of experience managing service departments for large contractors — experience that showed him exactly what good service looked like and, just as importantly, what it didn’t.
He started Fitch Services in 1983 with a straightforward mission:
Deliver high-quality home services with integrity and professionalism.
That mission hasn’t changed. What has changed is that John’s son Christopher now leads the company alongside him — bringing the same standards and the same commitment to a business that has served Charlottesville and the surrounding area for over forty years.
Fitch Services handles HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work — all three trades, under one roof, with the same team. We’re not a franchise, not a national chain, and not a company that was built to be sold. We’re a family business that built its reputation one job at a time in this community, and we intend to keep it that way.
What Sets Us Apart
- Quality Work, Every Time: We hold our team to a high standard — because the reputation we’ve built over forty years in this community depends on every job being done right, not just most of them. That’s not a tagline. It’s how we operate.
- Family-Owned Since 1983 — Not a Franchise: Fitch Services is still owned and operated by the Fitch family. No national chain, no private equity, no revolving door of ownership. The same family, the same values, the same community for over forty years.
- One Company for HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical: Most contractors specialize in one trade. We handle all three — which means one call, one company, and one consistent standard of work across every system in your home.
- Recognized by the Charlottesville Community: Proud winners of Charlottesville Family Favorites awards across multiple service categories — recognition that comes from neighbors, not algorithms.
